Southern Lawn Turf-type Tall Fescue
The following criteria will be behind every pound of Southern Lawn sold:
- All varieties will always be on the current Virginia Crop Improvement Association list of approved varieties, except when they are not available due to crop failure.
- All seed sold will be Blue Tag Certified.
- We will pick the most Brown Patch resistant varieties that meet the above criteria.
Use
Southern Lawn Blend has been designed to be a versatile, sturdy turf ideally suited for home lawns, parks, golf course roughs, college campuses, roadside enhancement, airstrips and camp sites. Southern Lawn Blend is drought tolerant, has very few insect problems, has good disease resistance, and will produce a dark green, fine textured lawn.
Establishment
Recommended bare ground seeding rate is 8 to 10 lbs. per 1000 sq.ft. Use a 1-2-1 ratio starter fertilizer such as Southern Lawn brand 14-20-14. Provide at least 2 lb. actual phosphorous per 1000 sq.ft. If you have a soil test done, apply nutrients as indicated by the results. Adjust soil pH to 6.5 Apply straw, paper mulch, wood fiber mulch, or erosion blankets. Ask your Landscape Supply professional for proper rates. August and September are the best months for establishment. March and April would be second best months. Overseeding existing stands at 3 to 5 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft.
Maintenance
Maintain a 3" or taller cutting height.
